Background of the study
In today’s digital age, media production increasingly relies on advanced graphic design tools that harness artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline creative processes and enhance output quality. At Gombe State University, the integration of AI-powered graphic design tools has the potential to transform media production by automating routine tasks, generating creative design suggestions, and optimizing workflows. These tools enable media students to produce high-quality visuals, animations, and digital content more efficiently than traditional methods (Adeola, 2023). AI algorithms can analyze design trends, suggest color schemes, and automate image editing processes, thereby reducing production time and fostering creative experimentation. Furthermore, the use of these tools can improve the consistency and quality of media content, preparing students for the competitive demands of the digital media industry (Ibrahim, 2024). Despite these promising benefits, challenges such as high software costs, the need for specialized training, and resistance to adopting new technologies can hinder effective implementation. This study aims to investigate the impact of AI-powered graphic design tools on media production at Gombe State University, assessing their effectiveness in enhancing creativity, productivity, and learning outcomes, while also identifying barriers to their integration and proposing strategies for improvement (Chinaza, 2023).

Statement of the problem
Media production at Gombe State University faces challenges due to the reliance on traditional graphic design techniques, which can be time-consuming and less adaptive to current industry standards. Although AI-powered graphic design tools offer the potential to automate complex processes and boost creative output, their adoption has been limited by factors such as high acquisition costs, inadequate technical support, and a lack of comprehensive training for both students and faculty. These challenges hinder the full exploitation of AI capabilities in enhancing the quality and efficiency of media production. Consequently, students may not develop the advanced skills required for successful careers in digital media, and the overall output quality may suffer. This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-powered design tools in media production, identify technical and pedagogical challenges, and propose strategies to facilitate smoother integration and improved learning outcomes (Ibrahim, 2024; Adeola, 2023).

  2. To identify technical and instructional challenges in tool adoption.

  3. To propose strategies for enhancing training and integration of AI tools in media production.

Significance of the study
This study is significant as it explores the transformative potential of AI in media production education, offering recommendations to improve creative processes and prepare students for industry demands (Adeola, 2023; Ibrahim, 2024).

Scope and limitations of the study
The study is limited to the evaluation of AI-powered graphic design tools in media production at Gombe State University. Limitations include high costs and varying levels of technical proficiency.
